Way back when I was a kid growing up in San Diego, I decided to be a Jesus follower. Now I find myself living in north Denver, leading a church. I'm not quite sure exactly how I got here... all I know is that I want to make an impact in this world by simply doing three things: 1) Love God, 2) Love Others, and 3) Serve the World! As a kid, I had a plan to be an architect. I’m a certified draftsman and have an Associates of Science in Construction Technologies. But while I was in college and drawing buildings I was also volunteering in the Student Ministries at the local church, teaching Sunday school, leading the midweek program, and discipling a group of guys. I was spending all my time (and money) hooking teenagers up with Jesus and teaching them how to follow Jesus. Eventually I realized I’d never be content just building buildings -I needed to focus on building God’s Kingdom. Over the next couple of years I transitioned from volunteering, to bi-vocational, and eventually to serving in ministry full time. In 2007 Good News was looking for a lead pastor and I was serving at a church in Reno. Because of a mutual friend I started talking with Good News about their search for a pastor, but to be very honest, I had not expected the conversation to go anywhere —I was wrong. In December of that same year, my wife, kids, and I moved to north Denver and absolutely love it here! That move has proven to be an excellent decision for me, my family, and the church. Back in 1994 I married my high school sweet-heart, Heather. We have 3 kids: Elijah, Savannah, and Isaiah. My kids and I have an ever growing collection of PEZ dispensers —we’re well past the 100 mark and are always willing to adopt any unwanted PEZ dispensers you might have living in your junk drawer. Our family has a little pop-up-tent-trailer that we enjoy taking up to the mountains to go camping. I am constantly taking on projects where I get to work with tools (remodeling on the house, landscaping, building furniture, and I have an old jeep sitting out in my garage that I’m planning on rebuilding). And, I must admit, I am a chocoholic —I love chocolate! I have a BA in Ministry Leadership from Bethel University and a Masters of Divinity from Golden Gate Theological Seminary. Now you know a little bit about me —I look forward to getting to know you.
