I need everyone to help me spread my message among teens/ adults. I can talk about the dangers of distracted driving, finishing school and not giving up.Let me tell you a little about my story:
Fourteen years ago, I was in a head-on collision with a pick-up truck. As a result of the accident, I sustained Traumatic Brain injury and was in a coma.Unfortunately, it was due to Distracted Driving. I had a 50-50 chance to live and had to re-learn everything. There were years I had to undergo which consisted of physical, occupational and speech therapy at Shepherd Center. I was a Junior at Auburn University when the accident occurred. It took me an extra 3 years, but I finally graduated! I was fortunate enough to receive help from NuTEQ Solutions to create a
PSA . I also started my own non-profit Motivational Speaking company called “A Second Later.” All in effort to promote the message about the dangers of Distracted Driving. To this day I have no use of my right arm, limited use of my right leg and a quiet voice. For that reason, I have dedicated my life to end Distracted Driving. I spoke to the Ga legislators prior to the adoption of a hands-free bill. Also,I spoke at several mock traffic crashes given to high school students and various other schools. I have spoken to Rotary Clubs. the Medical Association of Georgia and have been on TEDxEmory! One of my PSA’s was nominated for the Southeast Emmy’s. My hope is to save many lives!
