Freedom in Christ Fellowship

About Us

Knowing Christ and making Him known

Freedom in Christ Fellowship was started in the fall of 2000 from Lebanon Christian Fellowship, which was located here at 118 North 14th Street. Freedom in Christ Fellowship chose to meet at 12 North 9th Street which was also being used as a café outreach for youth. For about nine years we were involved in the work of this café. We also were the home church for men who were in the Discipleship Program of Jubilee Ministries. This gave us the opportunity to meet many men and to share the fellowship we have in Jesus Christ with them. A priority of ours has been to know Christ. We believe this is the most important work we can do and we could say that this priority has resulted in what we do as a church.
Our other passions and priorities include preaching and teaching the Word of God, worshiping though music, small group fellowships, cooperating with other churches in doing ministry, inviting missionaries to share of their work, and sharing the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with friends and neighbors.

What to Expect

What are services like?
We usually have a great time of fellowship that can begin anywhere up to an hour before service begins, there is always fresh coffee and some kind of snack like cookies or muffins. Our worship services is a 1 ½ hour experience designed to give God the glory that is due to His name. In the beginning of our inspired worship experience we have a prayer of blessing followed by some announcements. This help each of us stay connected to what is going on in and around our community, and keeps us updated with resources that can be made available. Following announcements we move into a time of song. Praise is led by our worship leaders to present a picture of God that will inspire you to move beyond yourself and into the very presents of the true and living God. Of course we cannot make this happen, it needs to come through the power of the Holy Spirit. The lyrics to the songs are projected on a screen so you can sing or simply follow along, you are invited to stand during worship but it is not necessary. Our goal is that you are experiencing God where you are. After the singing, one of our Pastors or lay leaders will lead us in a time of prayer, during this time we typically focus on specific things like, birthdays, anniversaries, struggles, sicknesses, current events, and the life of the community and church. During the sermon the young children are invited to participate in Sunday school where the Gospel is presented through Bible memorization, Bible stories, craft and activities. We then focus our attention to the preaching of God’s Word. We teach and preach through the Word using an expository style for most of the year. We do have several missionaries who visit and update us as to what God is doing throughout the world. Throughout the year we also have lay leaders participate in preaching using a typical style of teaching. We end with a prayer and benediction and encourage everyone to love God and love their neighbor. All are welcomed to stick around and continue to fellowship with one another.

What is the community like?
Freedom in Christ is a small congregation that considers itself as a family. Being a part of each other’s life through outside activities, small groups, picnics and outreach. We are very hospitable and want to walk with each other in all of life’s circumstances, both good and bad.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We hope you feel as though you belong, regardless of what you believe. We want to love everyone as Christ loves them, by our actions and our deeds.
