About Us

Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

We have two styles of worship at Franklin First, often called “traditional” and “contemporary.” What it’s called doesn't matter as much as what happens there: Men and women encounter the living God, made known to us in Jesus, through the work of the Holy Spirit.

You can find many opportunities to learn and grow. In addition to worship, we have active children's ministries, youth ministry, and varied educational opportunities for adults.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Traditional Worship: The 9:00am service takes place in the church sanctuary. It’s a beautiful space, with six stained glass windows capturing important moments from Jesus’ life. We sing hymns from The United Methodist Hymnal, normally accompanied by pipe organ and piano, and our choir often presents an anthem. The pastor wears a robe, and the congregation is seated in a semicircular pew arrangement with hymnals and Bibles easily accessible. We share in Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month, and everyone, church member or not, is invited to join us at Christ’s table. Catalyst Worship: A catalyst is something that brings change, and we believe there’s no change greater than a transformed life. In worship, we meet the God who makes us new. That’s where we get the name for our 11:15am worship celebration, which most people would describe as contemporary. Catalyst takes place in our Christian Life Center (CLC). The atmosphere is casual, and as you enter you can help yourself to coffee, doughnuts, and other goodies. Some sit at tables coffeehouse style, and others sit in chairs closer to the stage. The worship team normally includes keyboard, bass, guitar, electric guitar, and vocalists. Holy Communion is shared the first Sunday of the month, and all who want to do so are welcome to join us at Christ’s table.

What is the community like?
The community at First UMC in Franklin is a warm, inviting place where you can grow in faith or discover faith for the first time.

What if I'm not a Christian?
First UMC is a place where you can celebrate faith or come to explore it. If you're not a Christian, we hope this is a place where you can learn about the faith and get to know some followers of Christ personally. We're not pushy, and we know we're all works in progress.
