• Larry Walter

    Rev. Walter, a native of Boston, Massachusetts, began his ministry with FUPC in December of 2003. He is a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College (1968) and of the Pacific School Of Religion (Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, California). While at PSR he received the Master of Arts degree in Psychology and Counseling in 1970 and the Master of Divinity degree in 1971. Rev. Walter served parishes in the Northern California Nevada Conference of the UCC for over thirty years before coming to Hilo. Mr. Walter has throughout his career been active in community life and service. He is currently the Chair. of the Hawaii Island Suicide Prevention Task Force. In addition he serves on the State of Hawaii Suicide Prevention Task Force and Chairs the Hawaii Area Service Board of the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Council. He is an active 'safeTALK' trainer (Suicide Alertness For Everyone).
