First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains
About Us
Open Hands, Open Hearts, Open Doors
First Reformed Church is a Christ-centered community, which is unapologetically open; our doors, our heart, and our hands. We want to offer you an experience that is deep and meaningful, while also inspirational.
We understand that visiting a new church can be intimidating: What should I wear? Where do I park? Where do my kids go? We want to be as helpful as we can to make your experience a good one. Whether you've attended church your whole life or never stepped foot in a church, First Reformed Church (FRC) is a safe place to bring your doubts, questions, and curiosities, regardless of your beliefs or background. We invite you to come and take a look around.

- Common Ground is one of our two worshipping communities. Common Ground is made up of people from all walks of life, taking in a casual style of worship in Friendship Hall (south end of campus) at 8:30 am every Sunday. The official time for worship starts at 8:30 am, but often people start gathering 15 minutes before. Our worship usually begins with readings from the Bible and some shared singing. The heart of it all is a teaching or sermon built around a lesson from scripture. We are regularly asking, "Who is God?" and "What differece does the reality of God make in my life?" It is in God's word that we find direction, instight and hope.

- The Celebration Service takes place in our Sanctuary, which is a beautifully designed, large sacred space located in the middle of our campus. The music for that service is led by our Chancel Choir, Bell Choir, musicians or vocalists. It features a wide variety of musical styles, from tradiitional hymns to contemporary Chrisitan songs - and everything in between. A sermon message is given during the service by one of our pastors with a focus on intersecting relevant issues with encouraging and practical biblical truths that can guide us through the best and worst times in life. Worship usually ends with a song and an invitation to connect over coffee and bagels in our Friendship Hall (south end of campus).
