About Us

Growing in the Spirit, Committed to Service, Sharing the Love

The Mission of First Presbyterian Church of Sun City is to celebrate, enjoy, and share God’s gifts in an active community, growing in the Christian faith through worship, education, mission, evangelism, fellowship, and member support in the name of Jesus Christ. Come visit - come home!

First Presbyterian Church of Sun City is a warm, welcoming congregation located at the intersection of Alabama and 103rd Avenues in Sun City, Arizona. Our church is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), the Synod of the Southwest, and the Presbytery of Grand Canyon. We are also a Stephen Ministry church. We celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2013.

If you are looking for a friendly and welcoming church that reflects a solid grounding in the Reformed tradition and is ecumenical in spirit and practice, you belong here.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Our services feature a fairly traditional liturgy and music, but since we have a new pastor, the exact order of worship changes frequently as we settle into the "new normal." During the winter months of October through May, we worship in our Sanctuary, with music from our voice and handbell choirs. During the summer months of June through September, when our "snowbird" members are absent, we worship in our fellowship hall, with special music provided by individuals and small groups. Open communion is served on the first Sunday of every month; home communion is available to the homebound upon request.

What is the community like?
Sun City is an active adult (50+) community west of Phoenix, AZ, but our congregation also includes parishioners from the surrounding communities of Glendale, Peoria, Sun City West, and Surprise, AZ. We have a fellowship dinner with entertainment once a month year-round; during the non-summer months we also have weekly Bible study. Our men's group meets for breakfast and fellowship every Tuesday morning, and our Presbyterian Women's group holds monthly circle meetings and quarterly Gatherings. Other activities include a Prayer Shawl Ministry, a summer school supply drive for the Dysart Unified School District, and an annual Holiday High Tea. We participate every year in the local Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and other ecumenical activities. We support the Justa Center (serving homeless seniors), local food banks, the HART (Helping At Risk Teens) Pantry, and Habitat for Humanity. Our Stephen Ministers are available to help those in crisis.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We still welcome your interest!
