Our Services

What are services like?
Services are characterized by a blend of both traditional and contemporary music styles bringing people of various generations together engaging all in the experience of worship. The lead pastor engages the congregation with a teaching/preaching style of delivery with heavy reliance upon the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Bible Studies are facilitated by the Lead Pastor or an appointed teacher who leads in an interactive open discussion forum as the Word of God is systematically studied and applied in all practical areas of our life experience. Journey of Faith classes on Sunday mornings offered to all ages seek to engage both heart and mind in the study of God's word to inspire faith for a lifetime journey while offering a venue conducive to building meaningful relationships on a small group level of interaction.

What is the community like?
The church community is one in which you will be accepted and welcomed warmly with a genuine interest in your personal needs and concerns. There is no tolerance for racial prejudice or judgmental attitudes in the assembly, and yet there is an understanding that we will be challenged by the truth based solely upon the Word of God without bowing to or endeavoring to create an environment of political correctness. We accept people from all backgrounds regardless of ethnicity, culture, socioeconomic, or current lifestyles because we all have shared in the same struggles with sin and issues of life. We will be challenged by each other to become all God destined us to be!

What if I'm not a Christian?
You are even more welcome by the community of believers in Christ as we look forward to the opportunity of sharing the love of God we have experienced and received with others who may not yet have experienced Him! No dress code is required so come as you are! We do not expect you to impress us or prove anything. You will find people here dressed in various ways, some formally and business like while many are dressed casually. There will be no expectations put on you or anyone who comes to our services as long as nothing is done to disrupt or cause confusion.

Ted Coody

Lead Pastor Ted Coody, a native of Cochran, Georgia, is an ordained minister of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church and a member of the North Carolina Conference IPHC. The last of eight children born to the late Rev. Thomas Coody and Carolyn Capps Coody, grew up in a home where Christian values and content of character were emphasized above talents and personal gifting. Ted dedicated his life to Christ at age 16 and accepted the call of God upon his life for ministry at the age of 17 and has been preaching the gospel ever since. Following high school graduation in 1980 from Bleckley County High School, he attended and received his Associate of Arts degree from Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia in 1982 where he began pursuing preparation for ministry. In 1985, he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Pastoral Ministries from Holmes Bible College in Greenville, South Carolina. Later in 2001, Ted received his Masters Degree in Leadership Development from Southwestern Christian University in Oklahoma City, OK. Married since 1984, both Pastor Ted and his wife, Tammy, a native of Hawaii, are the proud parents of their daughter, Jessica Kuhiwa Erwin and son-in-law, Lt. Adam Erwin, along with their son, Daniel Kolea Coody, and daughter-in-law, Ashlee Greer Coody. Pastor Ted and Tammy are also extremely blessed to now have their first grandchild, Alrich Kaeo Erwin. Both of their children were born as natives of Hawaii while their parents worked as Mission Pastors on the island of Maui. Ted has been a pastor for 30+ years, having served for 9 years as Secretary/Treasurer on the Georgia Conference IPHC Board as well as in other leadership roles everywhere they have lived. In May, 2014, Pastor Ted was called by God and recognized by the Greenville First Pentecostal Holiness Church to become and serve as their currently installed lead pastor. Under his leadership the church is moving forward towards a brighter future of anticipated growth for the glory of God and in reaching a harvest of souls for the kingdom of God! In our rapidly advancing age of technology and changing complex cultural issues, Pastor Ted is committed to faithfully minister the Word of God in the authority and anointing of the Holy Spirit with an intergenerational and multicultural focused approach to ministry. All members and attenders are being challenged to engage with him in ministry by: Experiencing God together, Embracing all People and Evoking lifestyles of faith!
