Subject: morning thoughts
Hey Team Caregivers!
Yesterday’s early morning, clear, beautiful sky scene is still in my mind this morning. It was only 6:30am, but the darkness made it seem late at night. The stars and moon looked crystal clear, and the lyrics from a friend’s song came to mind—“When I see the stars, I can’t help asking, “What is man to you?” The words were inspired by Psalm 8 where David wrote: “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?”
We can seem so small and insignificant in the context of the vast enormous universe that has been created. We can feel so lonely and isolated in the midst of a multi-billion populated Earth. Our everyday lives may seem unimportant when others are focused on world issues and interplanetary travel. We may determine that life is meaningless and lacks purpose, therefore it is no big deal to exist.
But, you must remember that humans are the ultimate creation of God! The crowning work of God’s inventions is mankind! It is man and woman who are made in the image of God! Wow! The Creator of the universe is the Maker of human beings, and that includes you! Wow! God has a purpose for your life! God has a plan for you! Jesus came to earth and sacrificed His life on a cross for humans, so, if you are a human being reading this message, be assured that He died and came back to life for you! Wow!
So, when you look at the moon, stars, and this massive universe, in humility answer the Psalm 8 question of “What is man to God”? with the truth, “I am a human being created in the image of God, formed and invented in my mother’s womb, one of billions of people that God loves, among the elite of God’s creation, a person that Jesus lived and died for on a cross, and the One who invites me into daily relationship and into His eternal home! Wow!
