    WILLIAM D. LAIRD JR

Our Pastor: Rev. William D. Laird Jr. was born in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was raised in a small town in Ohio called Adena. His family owned a restaurant and tavern where he was a bartender. After finishing high school in 1974, he entered the United State Air Force. Upon completion of basic training, Pastor Laird returned home to marry a young lady that had caught his eye. Although he was not raised in a Christian home, God allowed this young lady with a Pentecostal heritage to become part of his life. They were transfered to Tuscon, Arizona in 1975 where they began to build their life together. Upon arriving in Tucson, they began church shopping. They longed for the friendships and fellowship that they had left behind in Ohio. In September of 1975 they visited Faith Tabernacle, pastored by Rev. Jerry Conner . Soon, God began to speak to his heart about the need for salvation. God filled him with the Holy Ghost in April of 1976 only a short time before their only son, Christopher, was born in May of 1976, on his birthday. Pastor Laird immediately became involved in evangelism. They were involved wth driving the Sunday School bus, teaching Sunday School, singing in the church choir and teaching home Bible studies. He was licensed with the United Pentecostal Church International in 1981. He was mentored by Pastor Conner until God began to deal with him to return back east to start a "Faith Tabernacle" in Pennsylvania. Pastor Laird has a great burden for the lost! He strongly believes in teaching others the plan of salvation, thus preparing them for the return of the Lord for His Church. His goal is to reach as many souls in New Kensington and the surrounding areas with the Gospel of Jesus Christ before the Lord's return.
