• Don Metcalf

    Born in Chattanooga Tennessee Pastor Don grew up traveling with his parents in ministry. As evangelist, the Metcalf family traveled and held revivals for small Pentecostal churches all across America. Pastor Don attended International Bible College in San Antonio Texas where he met his wife to be, Deborah Chavers from Independence Louisiana also attending IBC. Pastors Don and Deborah have now been married for 38 years. They are joined in ministry by their two daughters, Jennifer and Angela. Jennifer is a graduate of IBC. Angela is a graduate of Portland Bible College. Pastor Don and Deborah ministered for several years to the addicted community. They served as counselors and later as the directors of Faith Farm in Ft. Lauderdale Fl. In 1983 Don and Deborah moved from Florida to Bellflower CA where they joined with Rev. Art Hughes with a vision to build a brand new work. Grace Fellowship Church later merged with Messenger Fellowship Church. In 1998 the MFC fellowship congregation became affiliated with the Assemblies of God and eventually the name was changed to Desert Reign Assembly of God. Pastor Don and Deborah have now been the lead pastors of this dynamic and evolving congregation for 29 years. In 2002, the Woodruff Christian School campus in Bellflower was purchased and became the new home for our school and preschool. At present Southland Christian Academy and Preschool have 250 students. In 2003, Desert Reign stepped out in faith, sold the church property in Cerritos and began a courageous journey to expand God’s Kingdom. In April of 2009 a new church campus was completed. Desert Reign Church of Cerritos became Desert Reign Church of Downey. Pastor Don’s life message is, “If God can use me, He can use anyone.” The fascinating testimony of His life is in a small book he authored entitled “So Broken Yet So Blessed” We are filled with high expectations because these are exciting times. We are postured to see the hand of God do tremendous things for those who cry out to Him.
