About Us

People of faith practicing the values of God's Kingdom

Russellville Community Church, located in rural Indiana, was a merger of two congregations in 1981 - from the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and United Church of Christ - who were seeking to witness to God's presence in this community. Taking a lead in local mission and outreach, and committed to trusting God's Spirit in doctrinal matters, RCC draws its members from several counties. We gather to worship and grow and return to our communities in order to serve.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Worship services are a blend of traditional and contemporary liturgy and music. Special music from week to week ranges from solo to choral. Preaching is shared by the church's co-pastors and includes children's messages. The services are planned around the scripture lectionary for each week and can include special community events or observances.

What is the community like?
Russellville, Indiana, is a small town of about 300 in northwest Putnam County, affectionately described as "You gotta plan on coming here to get here!" Like many small communities across the midwest, it has struggled with a decline in populationa and business, but has maintained some of the charm of previous years. The church itself has many members coming from Crawfordsville and Greencastle (20 miles average), and even as far as Greene County (60 miles).

What if I'm not a Christian?
Russellville Church reflects the attitude of its partner denominations in opening to doors to all, "whereever they are at in life's journey." Holy Communion is offered to all who come in faith. Those who are curious are invited to participate and ask questions.
