Who We Are

We believe that God has called us to be a diverse community of worshippers who, gripped by the gospel of grace, consistently reach out to bring hope and freedom to the diverse people of the Columbia area and beyond. As part of this vision, we desire to impact all who come (skeptic, seeker, or follower) to become free as they live as God’s instrument of love, mercy, and justice. We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America in the Columbia, Maryland area striving to live out the biblical call to love God and our neighbors.

Irwyn Ince

Irwyn Ince is the senior pastor of City of Hope Church. Irwyn and his wife Kim moved to Maryland from Brooklyn, NY in 1995, and have been residents of Columbia since 1997. In 1995 he professed faith in Jesus Christ at New Bethel Baptist Church in Washington, DC. Irwyn was an engineer by profession when the Lord called him to pastoral ministry in 2000. He began his seminary studies at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) that fall. In 2002 he and his family joined Mount Zion Covenant Church (PCA) in Bowie, MD. Irwyn served as a pastoral intern at Mount Zion as he completed his Master’s degree. In 2006 Irwyn graduated from RTS and left his full time employment as a project engineering manager with Motorola to become the pastor of Mount Zion. In February 2007 Mount Zion merged with New Town Church in Columbia, MD to form City of Hope. Irwyn strives to live the gospel in all areas of life. He enjoys spending time with his family, being active in the community, and is a CrossFit enthusiast. He and Kim have four children, Jelani, Nabil, Zakiya, and Jeremiah.
