John Backus
Pastor

John Backus is the pastor of Christ the Lord, Clearwater. First ordained in 2003, he has served in 4 congregational settings in the pacific northwest, rural and urban Wisconsin, and most recently here in Clearwater. He holds a Masters Degree in Divinity from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon WI and graduated with honors from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN in 1995. He has training in Hebrew and Greek. John has served in both mission settings and established congregations, led worship teams as guitarist and vocalist, and participated in a mission work in eastern Asia. He volunteers as a Tech Team leader at professional clergy conferences in the southeastern United States, and serves as the President of the Board of Directors of a Florida non-profit charity, SLAA, which provides grants for youth ministries and supports adolescent spiritual development.
