About Us

Traditional Family Church

We invite you to worship with us on Wednesday mornings at 7am, Sunday mornings at 8am and 10:30am, and participate in our Christian Education programs for all ages from 9:30-10:15am on Sunday mornings. Our Mission is to know Christ, and to make Christ known. We come to know Christ through prayer, study, worship and fellowship. We make Christ known by active, spirit-filled ministry in our community and in the wider world. We welcome all who would join us in our Mission.

What to Expect

What are services like?
The 7am Wednesday and 8am Sunday worship services are spoken (no music). The 10:30am Sunday worship service includes traditional hymns led by our church organist and choir. The liturgy uses contemporary language from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. We follow the Revised Common Lectionary 3-year cycle of Bible readings for Sunday worship which always includes a reading from Hebrew Scriptures, a Psalm, one of the Gospels, and one of the Letters or Epistles written to early Christian communities. We welcome all baptized Christians to participate in Holy Communion (also known as the Lord's Supper) at each worship service.

What is the community like?
70% of our active members are parents with school age children. About 10% of our members are home-bound long-term members whose primary ministry is to pray for the people and work of our members and community. 20% of our members are empty-nesters and retirees who work and serve in ministries in Marion County, Sewanee, and Chattanooga. Some of our primary outreach ministries are to the Marion County Food Bank and Good Neighbors organizations, the Blue Monarch, and South Pittsburg E.Y.E.S programs.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We welcome you to join us for worship, formation in one of our Sunday education opportunities, fellowship at one of our monthly parish luncheons, and service ministries both inside the church and in the greater community.
