  • Fr. Herb Weber

Fr. Herb Weber, the founding pastor of Blessed John XXIII Parish, was ordained in 1974. He is very happy to be back in Wood County, the home of his alma mater, Bowling Green State University. The twelfth of thirteen children, Fr. Herb is eclectic in his interests which include reading, hiking, canoeing, gardening, swimming, and live theater. The annual four days away with his brothers, called Brother Bonding, is a special time for him. As a Spanish major in college, Fr. Herb loves traveling to Latin America. He has also visited other parts of the world and finds that he learns more about himself with each trip. Mostly he enjoys going to what people would call 'mission' lands. For more than twenty years Fr. Herb has written for Catholic News Service with syndicated articles in dozens of Catholic newspapers in this country and elsewhere. He has published two books, various pamphlets, and is a regular columnist in the diocesan newspaper. "What I like most about Pope John XXIII," says Fr. Herb, "is that he trusted that the Holy Spirit is still actively leading the church. We don't have to live in fear when we know the power of God's presence in our lives."
