Your "pastor", Rick Morrow, is ignorant of Scripture when he states that Autism is caused by demonic forces. Has he not read how Adam and Eve disobeyed God and as a result the entire human race was plunged into a sin-cursed world? Autism and heart attacks and nearsightedness and ALL physical and developmental ills are a result of that fall. To single out Autism and say that it's caused by demons is not just insensitive, but ignorant, arrogant, and flat out stupid. Does he recall what the Lord said to Moses, who said he was slow of speech? 'The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord?" ' Has this "pastor" never read what Jesus said to his disciples? '2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him." ' Is this lack of Scriptural knowledge what passes for scholarship in the Southern Baptist Conference these days? Is this presumption and arrogance and heartless treatment of people with Autism and their families, who are already dealing with enough difficulties and pleading with God for wisdom and direction, what this ignorant "pastor" feels led to teach his congregation? If this man has any conscience at all, he will resign from his position and go back to studying the Scripture instead of propounding his own biased ignorance over the pulpit. May God bless all of the families who were hurt by this dreadful teaching.
