Bethel Lutheran Church

About Us

Gather, Grow & Go

Bethel Lutheran Church, located in the heart of Grove City was founded in 1967 as a mission congregation. The more than 5 acres of land owned by the church was originally a turkey farm and later became neighbors to Grove City High School.
We are an all-inclusive church with the mission to Gather, Grow and Go. We, the members of Bethel Lutheran Church, Grove City, Ohio, believe the following statement represents our commitment and desire to reach out and welcome those in need of and searching for God’s love.

We believe we are all created in God’s image, female and male, and are all called to love our neighbors as Jesus loves us. We believe we are many members, but one body in Christ, and called to unite all people in God’s love. We welcome and affirm all people. We invite those who are seeking God’s presence in their lives to join us in our common journey. Our faith community seeks to unite persons of all ages, races, nationalities, ethnic background, sexual orientations, gender identities, mental and physical abilities, socioeconomic levels, and theological backgrounds. Together in our diversity, and being empowered and directed by the Holy Spirit, we will continually strive to “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God.” (Micah 6:8).

What to Expect

What are services like?
We hold two traditional worship times on Sunday mornings, at 8:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Bethel utilizes the Principles for Worship as outlined by the ELCA, published in 2002. Our liturgy (order of worship) is printed in bulletins each Sunday for the congregation’s use. Hymn selections are within the cranberry Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) book located under the chair in front of you in the sanctuary.

What is the community like?
We take communion on a weekly basis and participate in an ‘open table’ policy meaning that all baptized persons who believe in the sacrament of the bread and wine are able to accept communion. Young children and those preferring a blessing to communion are also welcome to come forward and with arms crossed, will receive a blessing from the presiding Pastor. All children are welcome in worship. They are a valued part of this faith community. In addition, Bethel’s nursery (for children up through four years of age) is staffed for both worship services and is available to meet the needs of your family and the worshiping needs of the congregation. This includes a “Parentseeker” paging system for optimal communication between nursery and parents worshiping in the sanctuary. Children’s bulletins are also available for younger children to help them make age appropriate connections with our weekly themes. We also have video monitors of the sanctuary in the hallways if your child gets a little restless or distracted.
