About Us

Where All Souls Are Welcome. No asterisks. No exceptions. No kidding.

A member of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

The people of St. Michael's Episcopal Church extend a warm welcome to ALL who would like to worship with us, or take advantage of our educational offerings. Our congregation believes that ALL are welcome at God's table. Likewise, we welcome all persons, without regard to age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical or developmental disability, or any other attribute.

The Rev. Linda Huggard is the priest in charge of our congregation. Before attending seminary, Rev. Linda worked for over 30 years as a commercial insurance broker, specializing in claims litigation. She has served in disaster relief and other humanitarian missions in Belize, Mexico, and New Orleans.

Rev. Linda is assisted by the Rev. Ruth Eller, a retired priest from the Diocese of Utah. Having earned degrees in drama and English, Rev. Ruth taught at Vassar and UC Berkeley (among others), before being ordained. A longtime resident of California before her work in Utah, she returned to the state after her retirement.

St. Michael's is part of the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin, which covers much of the southern portion of California’s Central Valley and parts of the Eastern Sierra.

The Episcopal Church USA remains faithful to its founding principle of balancing Scripture, tradition, and reason. Like many other Christian denominations, it has reached an accommodation with modern science, while preserving the essential messages from Scripture. Church leadership tends to be progressive, accepting women at all levels of service, and teaching tolerance toward other Christian denominations and non-Christian faiths.

I've never been to your church, but I would like you to pass this note onto Ruth Eller. We used to teach together at The Bishop's School in California. You can give her my university email [email protected]. A fellow teacher at Bishop's (Mary Sterrett) and I have been talking about Ruth and we were sad that we lost touch with her.
