Herman Cain: Rev. Wright fair game

“I think it is fair if someone wants to highlight the Reverend Jeremiah Wright and his relationship with Barack Obama … Continued

“I think it is fair if someone wants to highlight the Reverend Jeremiah Wright and his relationship with Barack Obama because, quite frankly, it wasn’t highlighted enough in 2008 when he was running for president the first time.

“ [...T]he reason that the liberals are going to call it racist is because President Obama is black and Jeremiah Wright is black. They’re going to call it racist. It is not racist! They hide behind the race card any time that someone wants to attack the president on grounds that he would freely and liberally attack somebody else.

“[...] So why not expose the truth? Because the president, as you know, back in 2008, denied and disowned Jeremiah Wright, when, in fact, how could he have been in his church for 20 years and not assimilated some of the things that he was talking about?”

-Former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain on why the Wright-Obama relationship is fair game for campaign ads

can anyone tell me why this UNCLE TOM is back in the news again.

  • reformthesystem

It’s because some ultra right-winger at right-wing Georgetown gets to abuse this column by falsly claiming to write about religious faith.

  • armyofone

I think that anyone who has the ego and ambition to seek to become President of the United States is actually not very much of a Christian,or a Muslim.

That being the case, what else really matters? He might just as well have been raised as a Buddhist or a Hindu. The only thing that matters is- how will this politician called Obama guide our country in a prospective second term?

  • hitwithafade

as usual the reactionary/ misinformation wing of the cabal gets it all wrong….if you listen to Rev Wright…he says he was out to quantify Obama as the fraud he is…a Muslim…who used his Church as a political prop…so what do we get here?…the haters that comprise the stealing narcissistic left….shooting their mouths off in all of their racist glory….

  • Sandydayl

Okay then. Mitt baptizing dead Jews is fair game. Bigotry as practiced by the Mormon Church in the not too distant past is fair game. Bringing to light how aggressive Mormons who canvass neighborhoods are is fair game. Let ‘er rip.

So, the Herman Cain Minstrel Show continues. As long as he can attract donations from nitwits it will.

What hypocrisy, that republicans want to re-incarnate Rev. Wright, but when Obamas camp rightly states that when they took over from the Bush administration the U.S. economy was on the brink of collapse, due to Bush starting a war in a Country that had nothing to do with 9-11.He took a surplus in the U.S. Treasury and promptly gave it to Wealthy Americans, which only made the economy worse. How can TAX CUTS stimulate the economy in the doldrums, it cant, you must create demand by putting money in the pockets of consumers like President Roosevelt did to end the great depression. and the Federal Government is the only entity with resources to do it, by doing things like using Federal dollars to creat programs that train 18 to 24 year olds to drive heavy equipment paving our roads and bridges,or learning the ironworker trade in the same road projects. The Republicans want to hide their heads in the sand when President Obama bring up the mess he was left by possibly a man that may go down as One of the Worst Presidents in American History!!

  • dwightspears921

Cain and wright is back as on the right leaning camp you need to distract voters from the fact that Mitt Romney was born in the wealthy Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Hills,Michigan to a father that was President of the former American Motors Corp. and Governor of The Great State of Michigan, and has never been broke or had to choose between the light bill or food for the Kids! President Obama worked his way though regular college and Harvard Law School while driving a rusty old Ford Maverick, Who do you think knows what it like to live Paycheck to Paycheck? Obama or Romney

  • swampfoxx4

You are correct. The leftists and other losers, will try and hide the seamier sides of Obama from the public.

  • swampfoxx4

NUTS. The story is about that scumbag Wright. Focus, lefty

  • DSheron1

How about the Mormon church, righty? You would rather a president that believes in magical underwear and that Jesus lived in America? How could Mitt Romney have been a Mormon for so long without assimilating some of the things THEY’RE talking about?

  • DSheron1

thank goodness herman cain weighed in on this pressing issue.

Could we start this off a higher level of discussion by looking at what Obama actually said about his relation with Wright in his Philadelphia speech on race and the need to avoid trivializing race into gotcha games.

…we have a choice in this country. We can accept a politics that breeds division, and conflict, and cynicism. We can tackle race only as spectacle – as we did in the OJ trial – or in the wake of tragedy, as we did in the aftermath of Katrina – or as fodder for the nightly news. We can play Reverend Wright’s sermons on every channel, every day and talk about them from now until the election, and make the only question in this campaign whether or not the American people think that I somehow believe or sympathize with his most offensive words. We can pounce on some gaffe by a Hillary supporter as evidence that she’s playing the race card, or we can speculate on whether white men will all flock to John McCain in the general election regardless of his policies.

    We can do that.

But if we do, I can tell you that in the next election, we’ll be talking about some other distraction. And then another one. And then another one. And nothing will change.

That is one option. Or, at this moment, in this election, we can come together and say, “Not this time.” This time we want to talk about the crumbling schools that are stealing the future of black children and white children and Asian children and Hispanic children and Native American children. This time we want to reject the cynicism that tells us that these kids can’t learn; that those kids who don’t look like us are somebody else’s problem. The children of America are not those kids, they are our kids, and we will not let them fall behind in a 21st century economy. Not this time.

This time we want to talk about how the lines in the Emergency Room are filled with whites and blacks and Hispanics who do not have health care; who don’t have the power on their own to overcome the special interests in Washington, but who c

If the rabid right is so bent out of shape about Wright then then ought to put up or shut up. Let them show something about Wright’s teachings that they don’t like that Obama represents, and then everyone can make a decision on it. At the moment they are just a bunch of loud mouthed demagogues.

  • suegbic1

Of course Cain is right. Did Obama suddeny become a different person in three years?

  • suegbic1

Obama didn’t just change in three years. It remains true and important that, as David wrote, “Although Obama successfully cast himself as a metrosexual black Abe Lincoln” during the 2008 campaign, reminding voters of Obama’s twenty-years long tie to Jeremiah Wright would “dramatically reconfirm and increase the unease [an independent] has over Obama’s incompetence, his inability to focus on the problem at hand and his overtly political forays that make him look like he’s got something to hide.”

All we have to do is see the byline of this article to know it is a bunch of idealogical garbage.

  • jsoles2001

Nein nein nein. I mean, nine nine nine.

The rabid right is soon to be outnumbered.
