Iran’s supreme leader to rule on Christian pastor’s case

Breaking news reports out of Iran provide that the state court of Gilan, which recently demanded that Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani recant his faith or face execution, has delayed its written decision. As we predicted last week, the judges have sent the case to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. According to Youcef’s lawyer, Mohammad Ali Dadkhah, “the court has decided to ask the opinion of Mr. (Ali) Khamenei.” Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei is an Islamic jurist and the final arbiter of questions of Sharia law. In Iran, he is seen as a guardian protecting Iran.

The step to involve the most powerful leader in Iran demonstrates that Iran is feeling the pressure. Involving the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei in a case before a regional court is unusual. We can be certain if the lies spread by Iran were true – that Youcef was instead convicted of rape, extortion, and Zionism – the court would not seek the advice of the Supreme Ayatollah.

The readers of this blog have played a crucial role in raising international awareness of this unjust ruling. Now that Iran’s Supreme Leader will be considering the case, it is imperative that our top diplomat, Secretary of State Clinton, call for Pastor Youcef’s unconditional release. Continue to keep the pressure on Iran, share this story, call your Member of Congress, and join the over 125,000 who have signed our petition. Let’s do everything we can to see that Pastor Youcef is freed.

For an understanding of how utterly lopsided the rights of different populations are under sharia law, please read the Sira, Hadith and Quran (in that order for the best understanding). Then raise your voices!

  • revfeldman

If we Christians do not speak up now and put enough pressure to get this execution of Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani stopped, in time this WILL spread and we too will not have anyone to speak up for us! And we Will DIE for our Faith!!! Please help NOW!!!

  • revfeldman

If we Christians do not speak up for Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani and he is executed, one day when this spreads we too should expect that we too will have to die for our Faith and then who will speak up for us??? The time is NOW to speak up!!!

    Greetings, Mr Ayatollah Khamenei,

While I understand Iran to be a free nation, I also understand you to
want to be taken seriously as a modern nation of faith, and of the faith
of our father Abraham in particular, and thank-you Mr Khamenei for
recognizing that fact. Seeing as we have a similar function, although
differing titles and jurisdictions, I appreciate your careful examination
of how to humanely handle this case. I am not classed as a ruling
Ayatollah, but as a servant ambassador.

Thankfully, you have been willing to distance yourself from those
extremist murderers who claimed to be Islamists, but were mere terrorists.
And now that their extremist leaders who “lived by the sword” have likewise
“died by the sword”, we hope for more peaceful dialogue between those of
us who hold to the sincere faith of father Abraham.

Thank-you for taking the opportunity to examine the particulars in the
case of a minister of the Christians who follow Abraham’s faith, pastor
Youcef Nadarkhani (of course, named after Abraham’s great grandson).

And we welcome true descendants of father Abraham into dialogue.
Abraham never killed those who had a slightly different interpretation of how
God worked their lives. He only fought those who attacked him first and
threatened his family. He sought peaceful coexistence with those among
whom he was on his pilgrimmage.

My prayer to the God of our father Abraham, is that He will help you
find a way to live out that expression of faith which Abraham lived out for
an example for all of us to follow.

And may God bless all who are “righteous in their souls” as Abraham
was declared to be by God’s justice.

    Sincerely,
    ambassador Peer

This is a ridiculous story. It shows the idiocy of the involvement of religion in politics. It even shows the irrationality of religion in general. If these superstitions did not exist, we wouldn’t be wasting time on this story.

  • Bethesdan

If this guy was in fact evangelizing, he’s got it coming. White people shouldn’t go up to Harlem at 2AM wearing pointed hats, and Christians shouldn’t try evangelizing where they’re not wanted. You’d think people would have figured out by now that we have bigger problems than trying to convince others that our imaginary friend is better than their imaginary friend.

    To Whom It May Concern,
I am a person of little knowlege of politics or anything else going on in this world. However I am a mother of two sons, daughter-in laws and seven grandchildren and I Love them with all of my heart !!! Look at Pastor Yucef and Family as if it were your family and self !!!, out there fighting for both their Rights to live ! and to Live for Christ !!! My prayer is for Christians all over the world to join with me, to begin…. Praying according to Proverbs 21: 1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it withersoever he will. !!! Meaning ! He GOD ! can Turn hearts of Presidents, Senators, Govenors or anyone else in leadership ! Our Father is well able to do this…. ! There is none Greater than Our God….. !!! Keep in mind that if we don’t….. !! ONE DAY ON OUR OWN PRECIOUS AMERICAN SOIL… THAT WE ALL HOLD SO DEAR…. (As we thought would not happen… 911). THIS TOO SHALL HAPPEN….. IF WE DON’T STAND UP NOW !!!! GOD WILL SHOW OUT…. !!! IF WE STAND UP !!!
    Sincerely, Rena Wilson

Petitions, LOL. Grow a spine and cut Iran off from the rest of the world. You trade with them we impose an additional 20% entered value tariff on goods coming from your country. Iraq loses all of of aid. Pull out of WTO so they have no say in our new policy. China would have to find a new oil supplier. We get Europe to go along via IMF funding pullout and Turkey bites the bullet. We do not need to invade this repressive regime, just cut them off.

It would be great if the people who are the most vocal about this case actually cared about the Iranian people, instead of pretending to care about this man’s rights being violated to further their agenda of attacking Iran.

Maybe then they would stop pushing for draconian sanctions that shut millions of Iranians off from the rest of the world.

What about our own system of “JUSTICE”, ex. US Immigration Courts, BIA, and the Civil Judicial Courts in the USA are useless to help foreigners who want to stay such as Asylum and Refugees who are being persecuted because of their faith and ethnic background. I ask my fellow Americans to think about these foreign people…let’s give them a hand. What some big rollers are doing is to join some foreign aid agency to help animals, example, dogs, cats, certain marine animals, etc. The best example is Iran’s persecution on a Christian Iranian.

With attacks alarmingly increasing on Christians living in Muslim lands, it is important to ponder that Islam seems to have no teaching in a stand-alone location in the Qur’an that is equivalent to Christianity’s unconditional and universally binding teaching found in Romans 3:8 – ‘do no evil that good may come from it’.

Despite that perception, we ask that you show mercy Mr. Ayatollah Khamenei and thereby free Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani even as Ambassador Peer outlined his several reasons to you.

Without such an equivalently clear stand-alone teaching entirely free of any mention of conditions, circumstances or relationships that could possibly allow some believers to perceive that “exceptional ends” can justify the means, how can we trust Islam to be a reliable partner in dialogue and in peace arrangements?

Indeed, too many feel free to rationalize any kind of treatment of Christians because the Islamic faith does not seem to unequivocally command them in its scripture to “do no evil that good may come from it”.

In the absence of such a stand-alone binding teaching, there is then no limit to the evil, including that of deception, that *some* believers in Islam can be expected to do. Anything that might be claimed to be equivalent to Rom. 3:8 but in fact has to be assembled from scattered places in the Qur’an lacks the needed impact and clarity of a stand-alone equivalent.

If anyone truly familiar with the Qur’an knows of one or perhaps more such stand-alone locations of equivalency with the clear & unqualified teaching in Romans 3:8, would they kindly show in this article’s comment space those verses.

The submitter will be assumed to be saying that they have first examined their submitted stand-alone verses and can find no circumstances, conditions or other special mentioning in the text which could detract from truly showing an “unconditional and universal” nature.

That would be an excellent find and would enable more peaceful dialogue and progress to take

Jordan Sekulow, any relationship to Jay Sekulow? The story about this whole thing sounds like the woman who was supposed to be stoned in Iran for infidelity, and it turned out the woman was in jail for killing her husband in corroboration with her lover. There are news that he was spying for Israel. Jay Sekulow promoting his case, tells me there may be some truth to that.

Those who don’t believe in a God, should be thankful that those such as Stalin and Moa, didn’t waste their time believing. Christ said a time would come when people would claim to serve God by killing. It has happened before and is happening now.

Tony, what is this drivel. You keep your sky daddy stuff, it is totally nonsequitur.

Oh! really, that pond scum only peddled his wife, not once but twice. Then he put out his baby mama with his baby, who he bedded without the benefit of marriage. To top it all of he went on to butcher his own son, because he heard voices. To look at this pond scum as anything else other than pond scum means you are deluded.

    Saving Muslims is quite easy!!!

The Five Steps To Deprogram 1400 Years of Islamic Myths:
( –The Steps take less than two minutes to finish- simply amazing, two minutes to bring peace and rationality to over one billion lost souls- Priceless!!!)

    Are you ready?

Using “The 77 Branches of Islamic “faith” a collection compiled by Imam Bayhaqi as a starting point. In it, he explains the essential virtues that reflect true “faith” (iman) through related Qur’anic verses and Prophetic sayings.” i.e. a nice summary of the Koran and Islamic beliefs.

The First Five of the 77 Branches:

    “1. Belief in Allah”

aka as God, Yahweh, Zeus, Jehovah, Mother Nature, etc. should be added to your cleansing neurons.

“2. To believe that everything other than Allah was non-existent. Thereafter, Allah Most High created these things and subsequently they came into existence.”

Evolution and the Big Bang or the “Gi-b G-nab” (when the universe starts to recycle) are more plausible and the “akas” for Allah should be included if you continue to be a “crea-tionist”.

“3. To believe in the existence of angels.”

A major item for neuron cleansing. Angels/de-vils are the mythical creations of ancient civilizations, e.g. Hitt-ites, to explain/define natural events, contacts with their gods, big birds, sudden winds, protectors during the dark nights, etc. No “pretty/ug-ly wingy thingies” ever visited or talked to Mohammed, Jesus, Mary or Joseph or Joe Smith. Today we would classify angels as f–airies and “tin–ker be-lls”. Modern de-vils are classified as the de-mons of the de-mented.

“4. To believe that all the heavenly books that were sent to the different prophets are true. However, apart from the Quran, all other books are not valid anymore.”

Another major item to delete. There are no books written in the spirit state of Heaven (if there is one) just as there are no angels to write/publish/distribute them. The Koran, OT, NT etc. are simply books written by humans for humans.

Prophets were invented by ancient scribes t
