What people say about St. George's Episcopal Church

  • St. George’s is a beautifully welcoming community. They are devoted to social justice and creation care, contemplative worship that is welcoming of all ages, and serving those in need. They are a welcoming place for LGBTQIA folks and for people of color. Worship is intimate and the congregation small. The liturgy is attentive to using expansive language when referring to God and people (I.e. when possible, they do not refer to God as ‘he’ or to people as ‘men.’) They share communion every week-all are welcome to join, and there is juice for folks who want to avoid alcohol and gluten-free bread for folks who need it. Children are welcome to move around in the sanctuary, make noise and explore. There are ways to help out: lighting the candles, reading, helping with the offering, etc. Kids have a corner of the sanctuary designed with just them in mind and they have access to the playground and the peace garden.

As the priest at St. George’s, I am truly blessed by this congregation and by all who walk through the doors of the church, whether that be for worship, AA, meditation, or a contra dance! The folks here help me understand what it means to be the body of Christ in this divided world. -Rev. Erin
