First Congregational United Church of Christ

About Us

Come as you are! Christ's table is open to you.

The North Yarmouth Congregational Church sits at the corner of Routes 115 and 231 in North Yarmouth, Maine. We are part of the Maine Conference of the United Church of Christ. Our worship service is at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings, and we hope you’ll join us! After a special children’s message, we have Sunday School during the worship hour for preschool and older, as well as childcare for littler ones. You’ll find we’re ordinary people, worshiping our extraordinary God. No need to dress up, we will welcome you just as you are. And we hope you’ll stay and talk over coffee after the service.

We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of every month, and we believe that all are welcome at Christ’s table. Wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.

We’re well known for our hospitality and our good food! Every month we invite you to join us for Friday Lunch, which takes place on the first Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You’re almost sure to see someone you know enjoying chowder and biscuits or a delicious crab and Swiss sandwich. The menu always has some surprises, too!

Our office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30-11:30 a.m. You may call us at 207-829-3644 or send us an email.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Our services follow a traditional form, but with open spaces for sharing concerns and joys and for sharing the Word with the children. Our sermons talk about how people live now and where the gospel connects to the real world.

What is the community like?
Our church community will welcome you, no questions. You'll see a few people dressed up, but most will be casual. You'll see all ages from babies and preschoolers to 80+ and all the decades in between. Our building is handicapped-accessible, and we hope it's everybody-accessible, too.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Come and join us; we're all on a journey. Our worship is explicitly Christian, but we are people with questions working together to find the answers, not people with answers to all the questions.
