What to Expect

What are services like?
Rite I spoken Eucharist, with traditional language and a quiet, meditative atmosphere, at 8:00 on Sunday morning. Rite II sung Eucharist, with music and more contemporary language at 9:00 and 11:00 on Sunday morning (10:00 in summer). Visitors to Rochester are invited and encouraged to attend the Healing Service at 5:15 p.m. on Mondays. We pray for people facing physical and emotional pain, directing our spiritual energy at God's healing grace for the courage to move forward beyond hopelessness. Anyone who wishes may be anointed with oil, symbolizing the ongoing touch and renewal in Christ. Rite II spoken Eucharist at noon on Wednesday. Calvary maintains the tradition of special services that so enrich liturgical life, including the "O" Antiphons during Advent, and Tenebrae and the Great Vigil of Easter during Holy Week.

What is the community like?
We are a community that loves doing things together all year. Calvary's parish life revolves around the liturgical calendar followed by Christians everywhere since the first century. Many of our parish festivals are common among Anglicans, others are simply fun and aren't as strictly tied to the religious calendar!

What if I'm not a Christian?
We are an inclusive community!
